Yeah! Go humans!
Following Spain’s decision to impose a minimum BMI for runway models, the editor of British Vogue’s letter “appealing to major fashion houses to end the ‘size-zero’ culture,” and France’s new legislation that has warnings on all photoshopped/airbrushed photos, a German magazine has decided to use normal women instead of models.
“Because beauty has many faces, from now on we will use not models, but women like you and us. What counts is the personality. We invite you to join in. … Because women do not need a deputy. … Because clothing is not a matter of trends, but of personality.” -Brigitte website
You know, I’m not really all crazy feminist women rightsy, but I hope all this is the start of one big step forward. Obviously there is some kind of aesthetic to size 0 gals, but the same is true for normal and plus size people. So… yay for realness!
