Dear Caitlin,

You are not alone.
Except the version of the rhyme I heard was “trot trot” instead of “ride a bus.”

Lisa

cakelin:

Ride a bus to Boston
Ride a bus to Lynn
Watch out, [child’s name]
That you don’t fall in!

I was bounced on many a relative’s knees to this song as a small child. So were my brother and all my cousins.

One of the strangest feelings is when you go your whole life thinking that some small tradition in your family is a thing that many people do, and then, one morning when you’re twenty-three — nope, it’s just you guys.
